Sony develops smart plug that charges for the energy consumed

Sony is working on smart outlets that can help manage electricity, according to theDigiInfo. The adapters will feature RFID and NFC technologies, which could, for example, identify which electronics are plugged in and even charge for the energy consumed, in real time.

Smart outlets could control equipment in a blackout, cutting off the power supply to non-essential devices and, eventually, it could also allow a system of public outlets to recognize your devices and add the electricity supplied to your personal account. In this way, users would pay for the energy consumed in the current account.
