Samsung is preparing a mobile advertising platform in partnership with OpenX Technologies to compete with Apple and Google, according to the The Wall Street Journal.
The service, allegedly called the Samsung AdHub Market, would display ads on the company’s smartphones and tablets, including the Galaxy line.
The sale of advertisements that would be displayed on the devices would be made by both Samsung and the application developers.
“The first time a manufacturer has entered the ad market in this way,” said OpenX Technologies CEO Tim Cadogan. “This makes it clear how mobile advertising will become an important part of revenue in the future.”
The platform should be launched in the second half of this year, according to the publication.
