Apple would be negotiating with the film industry to enable content for its future television

According to the Reuters, Apple would be negotiating with EPIX – a company created by MGM, Paramount and Lions Gate Entertainment – to offer streaming of its film collection on the Apple TV set-top box, and also for future televisions that the company may launch.

This matter has been commented on for some time, but neither party officially confirms it. The story began with a revelation made in the Steve Jobs biography, where the Apple co-founder claimed to think of developing a TV set that is easy to handle and that would be integrated with the iPhone and iPad. Many expect the launch of an “Apple TV” for the beginning of 2013.

Created three years ago, EPIX currently has an exclusive contract with Netflix worth $ 200 million annually, but it expires in September. However, aReuters adds that negotiations with Apple are “preliminary” and are currently paused.
