Anonymous are elected celebrity of the year by Time magazine readers

The American magazine Time reported that the hacker group Anonymous was elected by the public as the celebrity of the year 2011. Those responsible for the attack on several company websites obtained more than 390 thousand votes in a poll on the publication’s website.

However, according to theMashable, the vote may have counted on the help of some supporters of the group, who used unethical methods to count votes. According to reports, the total number of votes would have risen from 14,000 to 380,000 in just a few days. When questioned, the magazine said there was no fraud.

The hacker group stood in front of American President Barack Obama, singers Adele, Lady Gaga and Shakira. To see the full list, click on here.
