Studying possible billing models, Twitter has created a new advertising tool that allows advertisers to choose a specific niche of people to target their tweets and promotions.
As a result, not all users who follow a certain profile receive an advertisement, only those who are in the profile desired by the company.
Called ‘Targeted tweets’, the new feature allows a segmentation by location, by the person’s profile and even by device – PC, smartphone or tablet.
Twitter has already been testing the new service with British Airways, Coca-Cola, Washington Post and other advertisers. Last Wednesday, the company announced that the advertising model will be made available to all its users in the coming days.
