The reboot of the Tomb Raider series has given a lot to talk about. In addition to being one of the most anticipated games of the generation, Square Enix has invested in heavy advertising campaigns and has presented news day by day to fans of the heroine Lara Croft. Now, users will be able to follow “The Final Hours”, a virtual diary on YouTube that tells the production process of the new phase of the franchise.
With narration by the actor Zachary Levi, from the TV series Chuck, the first video shows the actress Camilla Luddington giving new life to Lara, both in voice and body, during motion captures for the animation in the studio. The Englishwoman, who currently participates in the fifth show of the series True Blood as the character Claudette, believes that Lara will always be a sexy symbol, but that the new game will treat you like an ordinary person subject to various dangers.
Camilla was chosen after a major selection process that involved British actresses, due to the hero’s accent in the games. Square Enix claims that Camilla has managed to spend all the emotion and youth that Lara needs in the new story, and that the actress will attend events in the coming months to promote the game. Among them, San Diego Comic-Con, in the United States.
In addition, the new Tomb Raider has had so much user participation that the producer is attentive to every detail. On the YouTube channel, the videos are subtitled in at least seven different languages - one of them, including, for Brazilian Portuguese. Asked a few times on the title’s official blog about substitutes for our language, the developers say that this hypothesis should not be ruled out, since the game market has expanded to many more countries, which requires more attention to fans.
The new Tomb Raider will retell the story of Lara Croft. Now 21 years old and just graduated from college, the young woman leaves for an island off the coast of Japan aboard a ship that, before anchoring, split in two during an intense storm, which separates Lara from the other crew and the leaves on dry land without contact with any other survivor.
The launch will be on March 5, 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
