Shazam, a popular application that until then only identified music, has grown. On Monday, 17, the service team announced that it has exceeded 250 million users worldwide and that it will be expanded to make more types of recognition.
The application could only be used to identify songs: just activate it wherever a sound is playing and the service searches for the artist, track and album name in its database, which has more than 20 million music tracks. Now, Shazam will also bring television information.
Initially active only in the United States, the feature will find music related to what you are watching; participants, even listing other programs that people have been to; curiosities; gossip; and additional information, which can be pulled from IMDB, Wikipedia or the attraction’s official website.
As the content varies according to the type of program, there will always be something different – in a sports broadcast, for example, you can see statistics, scores and schedules. In addition, it will also be possible to share everything via Facebook, Twitter and Google+.
The product’s connection with Facebook became more profound, with possibilities to see what friends are looking for and make comments directly through the app. And, if the user allows it, all queries will be posted on his Timeline.
The sharing will be available in a few weeks, while the other news will be available in a few months. There is no information on when the resources will be expanded to other countries.
