Currently, 37% of the population read newspapers daily in the main Brazilian metropolitan regions. Of these, according to Ibope’s Target Group Index, 11% also follow the news by digital means, with 1.5 million being informed exclusively from online vehicles.
The data reveals that about 79% of digital readers have accessed blogs or social communities in the past 30 days – this percentage drops to 50% among those who follow the print.
In addition, 70% of those connected are also content producers on the internet. “This demonstrates that newspapers can invest in the participation of the Internet user”, comments Roberto Lobl, Regional Director of Target for Latin America.
According to the executive, “some publications have already managed to match the number of readers online with those in print”.
