Since announcing to have 1 billion users, Facebook has started the marketing campaign “The things that connect us”, comparing situations, foods, moments etc. In the last piece of advertising, the company compares its service to a cake, not without warning: too much cake is bad.
“Birthday cakes are made for people to be together. They give friends a place to get together and celebrate. But too much cake is probably not healthy. So birthday cakes are very similar to Facebook,” says the message.
The campaign was created by the agency Wieden & Kennedy, which first released a video, on the day of the billiard. Then came a sequence of images: the claim that “pools just like Facebook“, Followed by “Halloween as Facebook“and the cake.
