Currently the notifications are on the top left, so that is the prime area of the social network, where everyone looks constantly. Only the banners are on the right side, in the region most despised by users.
Because the Facebook team reversed things, throwing notifications to the right, so everyone is at risk of paying more attention to whoever plays the social network. There are also personal updates, such as birthdays, engagements, etc.
Although it confirmed the tests with the new layout – which has already been seen by quite a few people – Facebook has not informed when it will be adopted definitively.
