Twitter today announced the acquisition of Bluefin Labs, a social analysis company that follows the television program and passes on information to brands, advertising agencies and TV networks.
The business follows a movement that started in December, when Twitter closed a partnership with Nielsen to offer a metric system that follows the network’s conversations about the television program (learn more).
“We believe Bluefin’s scientific data capabilities and social TV experience will help us create new and innovative advertising products and consumer experiences,” commented Ali Rowghani, COO of Twitter, in a statement.
Bluefin’s contracts will be honored, but the company will not accept new customers, as it works exclusively for the Twitter network – Nielsen and SocialGuide, for example.
