Broadband was the telecommunications service that grew the most in 2012, with a 44.7% rate in a survey by the Brazilian Telecommunications Association (Telebrasil).
Fast Internet accesses totaled 86 million last year, with mobile broadband responsible for 66 million and fixed broadband for 20 million. The mobile expansion was 60%, while the fixed one grew 10%.
In terms of internet, fixed and mobile telephony and pay TV, the country closed 2012 with 342.3 million accesses, of which 26 million were new – 71 per day. This represents growth of 8.2% compared to 2011.
The second best segment was pay TV, with an increase of 27%, followed by mobile (8.1%) and fixed telephony (2.4%).
