YouTube channel uses internet flashes to control commercials

A technology that switches commercials whenever the user blinks – even if involuntarily – started to work on Virgin Mobile’s YouTube channel.

BlinkWashing uses the webcam to do this, as explained in the GigaOM. The operator consults the internet users to find out if they authorize the operation, then performs some tests to calibrate and put the resource in operation.

There are 25 different clips, and at times it is difficult to know what the previous commercial is all about, as it is common to blink several times in a few seconds – even more when trying not to blink.

Anyway, Alex Colon, from GigaOM, points out that the precision of the technology is impressive, mainly because it shows how easy it is to control the internet without using your hands.
