IPad magazines are starting to gain more advertisers. In the first quarter of the year, the amount of advertising in this type of publication grew 23.6% in relation to the same period of the previous year.
The numbers are for research by Kantar Media and Publishers Information Bureau. The study includes 58 magazines with digital and print editions.
In the first quarter of the year, the number of advertisements in print publications (10,707) remained practically stable compared to the first quarter of the previous year, while in digital magazines it jumped from 4,824 to 5,961.
Taken together, both platforms gained 7.5% more advertisers than the previous year.
It is estimated that 7.9 million digital magazines were sold in the second quarter of 2012 – just 2.4% of all magazine circulation, according to the Alliance for Audited Media.
In the USA, tablets are becoming increasingly popular. According to the Pew Research Center, in 2012, 34% of American adults owned the gadget – up from 18% in 2011.
