Amazon founder buys Washington Post for $ 250 million

Jeff Bezos, creator and CEO of Amazon, now also drives one of the most important media vehicles in the world. It was announced on Monday, 5, that the executive disbursed US $ 250 million to buy the American Washington Post.

The newspaper has been in the hands of the Graham family for the past 80 years and now passes to the command of one of the richest men in the world, who confesses that he still has no plans for the publication.

“I don’t want to imply that I already have a plan in place. This will be unexplored terrain and will need experimentation,”stated in an interviewin which he points out the journal as an important institution in the country and showed optimism about the future.

It should be noted that the investment came from Jeff Bezos himself as a natural person, and not from Amazon. However, it is easy to imagine that the acquisition of a large media company like the Washington Post could benefit the Kindle, a platform optimized for content consumption, even if this is not confirmed.

Last week the Digital Look published a profile on Bezos, which transformed a bookstore into a technology conglomerate. Read here and know the trajectory of the executive who owns a fortune of almost US $ 29 billion.
