Sennheiser to make audio modules for Google’s modular smartphone

Sennheiser, a German company specialized in professional sound considered one of the best in the business, will be involved in the development of audio modules for Google’s new smartphone, Project Ara.

The main components would be related to voice pickup and audio outputs, which could mean a better performance of these components on the smartphone.

The move could mean the arrival of distant brands from the smartphone world to this market, through the creation of modules for Project Ara. It would not be a surprise to announce a Canon camera module, or Kingston memory modules.

Of course, it is still early to say, but Sennheiser’s support is an important step towards the viability and credibility of Project Ara, which should initially cost US $ 50, without any modules.
