Pinterest will use Facebook and use user information to sell targeted advertising. But although it uses the same tactic as the social media giant, the image site adopts a different method.
From October 19th, Pinterest will start collecting information such as age, gender, internet browsing history, cookies, among other things. Only the user can choose whether or not to participate in this collection.
If you prefer to stay out, just visit the settings page and move the permissions icon to “no”.
Until then, Pinterest only displayed advertising based on users’ internal preferences. Promoted Pins will now take advantage of a series of external data.
