Netflix reaches 50 million subscribers

In the last quarter, the Netflix movie and series streaming service reached 1.7 million more users. With the addition, the company has surpassed the mark of 50 million subscribers worldwide.

There are 36.2 million users in the United States alone. Despite the recent price increase of the service, of approximately US $ 1 for all countries, the number of new users did not drop. In Brazil, the monthly subscription costs R $ 19.90.

The company’s CEO, Reed Hastings, along with the financial director, David Wells, credit the growth in the last two months of the popular Netflix series “Orange is The New Black”.

Netflix’s shares closed the day at $ 491.52 and last quarter’s turnover was $ 1.34 billion.
