Man gets more than 2 years in jail for shooting film in cinema

A 25-year-old Englishman was sentenced to 33 months in jail for illegally recording the movie Fast and Furious 6 from the cinema.

Phillip Danks filmed in the city of Walsall and allowed the work to be downloaded more than 700,000 times. In addition, he still used his Facebook profile to sell physical copies, according to BBC.

Another boy, Michael Bell, ex-boyfriend of Danks’ sister, was sentenced to a much milder sentence. Bell took 120 hours of unpaid work because he just dropped illegal content.

Danks was a repeat offender, having already been arrested in May last year, but continued to distribute films illegally. The police managed to track him down because he used the same nickname on piracy sites and on a dating site.
