Apple tries to buy audio company Beats for $ 3.2 billion

Apple is close to completing the largest acquisition in its history. According to the Financial Times, the company is close to closing the purchase of Beats Electronics, responsible for the famous headphones that bear the brand name, and which now has a music streaming service.

The purchase of the company founded by Jimmy Iovine and rap star Dr. Dre may be announced next week, according to the report. Sources familiar with the negotiation say the deal is close to completion, but has yet to be defined. Some details can still undo the entire transaction.

Anyone who follows Apple knows that an acquisition of this size is strange. Since the time of Steve Jobs, the company has always remained discreet, avoiding buying reputable companies like Beats, which also represent a very high expense. That would be a split between the Jobs model and the Tim Cook style of driving the apple.

According to the publication, the agreement includes the music streaming service launched this year and the audio equipment business. Thus, the Beats brand would now belong to Apple.

Last year, in September, Beats received a $ 500 million investment from the Carlyle Group, which valued the company at $ 1 billion. If the amount is confirmed, it would mean that its value has tripled in less than a year.
