One of WhatsApp’s main competitors, Line continues the saga to overflow its business beyond the instant messaging market. Proof of this that the company now competes directly with YouTube and Netflix.
A product called Line TV was launched in Thailand, giving access to television programs, soap operas and music clips. It works on Android, iOS or the browser.
The messaging application is integrated as a novelty, according to TechCrunch, associating the official accounts of the personalities that appear on the videos and providing information about them.
There are no advertising banners, but the service raises money from advertisements that appear before the videos (just like YouTube). The content comes in three forms: partnerships with providers, revenue sharing in exchange for old videos and for own production, since Line also invests in content.
