Star Wars 8 premieres May 26, 2017

Star Wars fans are already preparing for the comeback of the franchise on December 18th this year after ten years without a feature film in the traditional format. It is not necessary, however, to wait much longer for the eighth film in the series, confirmed for May 26, 2017.

The confirmation came on Thursday, 12, in conversation with Disney CEO Bob Iger at the company’s annual general meeting. There is still no confirmed name for the film, just called “Star Wars: Episode VIII”.

Meanwhile, the seventh episode already generates expectations among fans, with the Brazilian name “Star Wars: The Awakening of the Force”, directed by JJ Abrams. He will not be the director of the eighth film in the franchise.

The post will be with Rian Johnson, who has accumulated the roles of screenwriter and director of the 2017 film. He already has accumulated scientific fiction experience with the film Looper, released in 2012, and has also directed some chapters on Breaking Bad.

Iger also confirmed that another Star Wars spin-off is on the way, called “Rogue One”, with a release forecast for December 2016.
