Sale of smartphones increases LG’s profit

LG reported good indexes in its annual results announcement, exceeding the expected R $ 1.2 billion in R $ 1.2 billion. The rise in profits is due to the sale of more than 59 million smartphones, an increase of 24% over the same period in 2013. The G3, the company’s top line, sold 10 million units.

The quarter between July and September 2014 was the best of the company in 5 years, with 16.8 million smartphones sold. With favorable results, LG’s net profit jumped 125% over the previous year.

Despite the closure of the plasma TV division, which caused a loss of $ 189 million, sales in the sector increased by 20% compared to the same period last year. The high demand for OLED and 4K models helped to boost the market.

LG’s operating profit increased 46% compared to 2013 and the company closed the year with revenues of R $ 143 billion.
