At the beginning of last year, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield was asked about the possibility of Nike launching a real version of Marty McFly’s sneakers from the movie “Back to the Future 2”. The designer said the idea was possible, but gave no further details.
Now, Hatfield has decided to confirm the launch, which is scheduled for this year. The information was obtained during a lecture in Long Beach, California (USA), however, the designer did not want to disclose the date of the launch. Instead, he said only that “there are still 11 months and two-thirds of a month in 2015”. It is worth remembering, however, that there are great chances for Nike to follow the film and present the novelty on October 21, 2015.
The name of the model was also not disclosed and it remains to be seen whether it will be called Nike Air Mag as it is not in the feature or if it will be given another name. For those who do not remember or do not know the franchise, the sneaker worn by Marty McFly is able to adjust itself, without the need to tie shoes.
The idea has been announced by Nike since 2011, when the company released a video showing the shoes. The company even registered a patent and donated 1,500 pairs to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which helps people with Parkinson’s.
