Netflix reaches 2.2 million Brazilian users

Netflix reached the mark of 2.2 million Brazilian subscribers, according to eMarketer. But the number may be even higher, because the consultancy released data covering only the first months of 2014.

From January to September last year, the virtual rental service grew 69.2% in Brazil, informs the Value. Only Colombia shows better results, with an increase of 74.3% during the period, but the country has only 535 thousand subscribers.

Considering the entire Latin American region, Netflix has 4.85 million customers.

In Brazil, the service took only three months to reach 309 thousand users after its debut, in September 2011. In the following year, it reached 857 thousand. The percentage of Brazilians who watch videos over the internet reached 86.5% in December, according to the consultancy.
