An augmented reality game launched by Google in 2012 should go on TV. This is Ingress, where players need to use their mobile devices to interact virtually with the physical environment they are in.
The gaming studio of search giant Niantic Labs is talking to broadcasters to turn the title into a series, according to the The Information.
The show would be produced in partnership with Sean Daniel Co., which is behind the films of the franchise A Mmia and a series called The Expanse, which is yet to debut on SyFy.
Ingress first arrived on Android and two years later on iOS, and can currently be played even through Android Wear. In it, players from all over the world are connected to the same world and need to carry out missions visiting “portals” – public places with libraries and art galleries.
