Yesterday ended fundraising campaign of funds for the documentary “1983: The Year of Video Games in Brazil” to be made. With more money than they asked for, those responsible for the project will now work to get it off the ground.
The documentary will be based on a book of the same name written by Marcos Vinicius Garrett Chiado, in addition to “1984: The Video Game Fever Continues”. He heads up the idea with Artur Palma, director of ZeroQuatroMdia, which produces content about games for Kapoow !, one of UOL Jogos’ partners.
They intend to tell the story of the arrival of video games in the country with a contextualization of the time. Devices that preceded the cartridges – including watches – will be shown, but not the further development of the market. Consoles like NES and Master System, therefore, will be left out, as well as computer games.
The collaborative financing campaign asked for R $ 20,000 for interviews, content licensing and hiring the team that produces the film. At the end, more than R $ 24 thousand were collected.
